WHO WE ARE The Washington Park Botanical Garden contains 9,000 square feet of greenhouse area, plus a conservatory which houses over 150 species of tropical plants. Surrounding the conservatory are a variety of gardens, including a 5,000 plant rose garden, the largest of its kind in central Illinois, a scent and texture garden for the visually impaired, an iris garden, perennial border, Betty Mood Smith Rockery, and Roman Cultural and outdoor cactus gardens.
COST The conservatory is open to the public year round free of charge.

p.m.
EVENTS AND SHOWS Periodically, special floral shows, events and classes are conducted in the Exhibit Hall, a new addition to the Botanical Garden, completed March 1998. Floral events are conducted by the park district horticulture staff and written information is distributed pertaining to each show topic. Educational classes are conducted by the staff members or other horticulture experts from the Springfield and Central Illinois area.
