Nelson Center is the home of the Springfield Junior Blues hockey team. The Jr. Blues are members of the North American Jr. Hockey League and will play 27 games. For ticket information call 528-2176.

Youth hockey programs are designed for children ages 6 to 17 years old and are managed by the Springfield Youth Hockey Association. For more information contact www.springfieldkings.org.

Learn-to-Skate/Learn-to-Play
For boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 12 who wish to learn the basics of skating and hockey. Formal games are not played, but scrimmages may occur toward the end of the session. Players will be encouraged to move into mini-mites upon demonstrating skating proficiency. This program is 18 weeks in length with each session lasting one hour. The cost of this program is $100 (in-district) or $115.00 (out-of-district). Click here to download flyer.

Mini-Mite Hockey
For players age 7 and under. After participating in the Learn-To-Skate/Learn-To-Play programs players may move up to the Mini-Mite level. This year’s program is supported by the Nelson Center. The cost has been reduced to $100 per player for Springfield residents (Non-District Cost is $115). Mini-mite players will practice on a full sheet of ice and play one game a week on Saturday mornings, after a few weeks of practice, for 18 weeks. Tentatively held on Tuesdays 6:45-7:45. Sr. League Hockey
This program is designed for adults wanting to play in an organized league format. The objective is to provide participants with an enjoyable ice hockey experience. Teams will be evenly matched (through a draft process) with an emphasis on good sportsmanship. No checking or slap shots allowed. There is a winter/spring, summer and fall session. Games are played on Sunday evenings. Fee per session: $135.00.

Adult Learn to Play Hockey
This program is for adults wanting to learn the basics of ice hockey. Instruction is provided by a USA Hockey certified coach and basic fundamentals and concepts are covered. A typical class is 30 minutes of instruction accompanied by an informal 30 minute scrimmage. Classes meet on Saturdays - 1:45p-2:45p (through August 18th). Fee per class $5.00 (participants pay individually for each class).

Adult Learn to Skate Academy
This program is for adults wanting to learn to skate. Certified instructors use a US Figure Skating Curriculum to teach participants how to skate by incorporating 8 basic elements into the program. Fee per session: $70 in-district; $85 out-of-district.

Duffers Hockey
Every Monday evening-call for times, $7.00 for 1 1/2 hours.

Figure Skating
Patch and freestyle sessions are held every morning and afternoon during the week and mornings on the weekends. The 45 minute session is $6.50 for in district and $7.50 for out of district. Discount passes are available. The Springfield Figure Skating Club has an active role at the rink with test sessions, competitions and an annual ice show. For more information go to www.sfsc4u.com.

Lincoln Land High School Hockey
Lincoln Land High School Hockey is designed for the High School aged participant. The League runs from November through March. For more infomation contact www.llhh.org.

House Leagues:

Lower House League is for players, age 8 - 12, who wish to play recreational hockey. Lower House teams will practice once per week with teams sharing a full sheet of ice. Lower House teams will also play one game per week beginning in the third week of the program. The number of players who sign up for the League will determine the number of teams; however, the Association is planning for 4 Lower House teams of 12-15 players. The cost of this program is $275. REDUCED

Upper House League is for players, age 13 - 17, who wish to play recreational hockey. Upper House teams will practice once per week with teams sharing a full sheet of ice. Upper House teams will also play one game per week beginning in the third week of the program. Swimming Lessons

Nelson Center offers swimming instruction for individuals age 3 and up, at all skill levels. All classes are held Monday through Thursday. Saturday morning classes are also available. All Classes are divided into appropriate skill levels. Ages 3 & 4 must take parent and tot classes. Register any time after May 1.

BANQUET ROOM RENTAL
Reserve the Franklin Room for your wedding reception or banquet. The Franklin Room, which overlooks the swimming pool, Lincoln Park and the ice rink, will accommodate up to 200 people. Newly remodeled exterior balcony doorway and stairway. New elevator for easier access of the second floor. Newly remodeled men's and women's restrooms on the second floor as well. Kitchen facilities are available. Rental fee is $348.00 for a four hour block + an additional $50 if serving alcohol.
RINK RENTAL
Rent the rink with your friends for pick-up hockey or just skating. Evening and weekend hours are available to rent at a rate of $175.00 per hour. Call 753-2800 for information about any program.
