Construction of “Erin’s Pavilion” our Welcome & Community Center began in June 2008 and will be opening in Summer of 2009!
Erin’s Pavilion serves as the Southwind Park nucleus providing 15,000 sq. ft. of indoor space and 3,000 sq. ft. outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. Erin’s will house a diverse level of recreational programs, expanding current Park District programs; it will be completely accessible and serve special needs for individuals with all levels of disabilities AND abilities! The pavilion will also offer a community rental venue to host catered events for business, social and family occasions. Rental fees and details are currently pending.
Erin’s Pavilion design focus is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certified, utilizing renewable and sustainable resources. LEED Platinum certification is the highest level of certification of which less than 40 buildings have achieved WORLD WIDE!
The pavilion design has a focus on sustainable energy, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally sound methods of energy production. The Pavilion reflect the design of a LEED Platinum Building. With less than 40 LEED Platinum buildings in the world, we will be setting a new standard with our overall park development!
Southwind Park Location Directions:
The park is located in the southern area of the City of Springfield, where the city growth promotes development to include expanded housing and retail developments and it is easily accessible from the major Interstate’s 55 and 72. Traveling west on Toronto Road just pass Intrastate 55, the first street is Second Street. Turn right or North on Second Street travel 2 miles to Southwind Road and the Park is located on the left or West side of Second Street. The park site is identified by a large sign at one of the park entrances
