The Southwind Park project is a community supported effort that will provide a recreational and open space venue unlike any in the Midwest. One of the unprecedented features of the Southwind Park is that every aspect of the park will be completely accessible to all of our park patrons with all levels of disabilities and abilities! Our future multi-use park is designed to provide year round indoor and outdoor fun, education and recreation programs set amidst beautiful natural habitats, wide open green space, unique water features and cutting-edge recreational facilities.
Erin’s Pavilion
The pavilion design has a focus on sustainable energy, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally sound methods of energy production. Preliminary research and plans of the Pavilion reflect the design of a LEED Platinum Building. With less than 40 LEED Platinum buildings in the world, we will be setting a new standard with our overall park development!
Erin’s Pavilion will be the first building in Southwind Park serving as the entire park's nucleus. Erin’s Pavilion construction will begin early Spring 2008 and the grand opening is planned for June 2009! The Welcome and Visitor Pavilion features 15,000 indoor sq. ft. building which will serve as a building to facilitate recreational, interpretive and educational programs, services and special events as well as an informational center for the entire park programs and facilities. Erin’s Pavilion design focus is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certified, utilizing renewable and sustainable resources. LEED Platinum certification is the highest level of certification of which less than 40 buildings have achieved WORLD WIDE!
