About

  • Established 1958
  • Acres: 9
  • Located in the north part of Springfield at the intersection of North 19th Street and Griffiths Avenue.
  • The park is bordered by Griffiths Avenue on the north, 19th Street on the east, and homes on the south and west. It is surrounded by residential neighborhoods.
  • Fairview Park contains three ball diamonds. The large diamond used for the Sandy Koufax League games is lighted and has an announcers box and large bleacher stands.
  • Other facilities include playground with both new and older equipment in the north central area, a restroom and concession building north of the large ball diamond, two horseshoe courts and a picnic area.
  • A parking lot along Griffiths Avenue accommodates about 50 cars and includes handicapped parking. A new parking area accessible from 19th Street has replaced the former basketball court area.
  • The Section of Springfield known, as Fairview had no public park for its residents so a vacant 80-acre lot was transformed with help from the Fairview Improvement association to create a park for its citizens in the 1950’s.
