SPRINGFIELD PARK DISTRICT’S HENSON ROBINSON ZOO TO BE LOCATION FOR “WILD WORLD OF PBS KIDS”!

[Springfield, IL] - WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University, invites families to our free, Family Day event. “Wild World of PBS KIDS,” is a family-friendly event celebrating Illinois’ flora and fauna! Join us Saturday, April 29th from 1-3pm at the Henson Robinson Zoo, Springfield, IL. The event is scheduled rain or shine. The Wild World of PBS KIDS event in Springfield is presented by Springfield Clinic with support from, Green Subaru, Sangamon Mass Transit District, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and CEFCU.


"Wild World of PBS KIDS” celebrates the creatures and plants that co-exist in our neighborhoods and communities and encourage children to discover Illinois’ unique animals and plant life.


• PBS KIDS walkaround costume characters Nature Cat and Dog from Word World will greet families at the event for photo opportunities.
• Animal Encounters will be on the schedule that day.
• Guests will receive an activity booklet from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to encourage youngsters to learn more about Illinois’ state symbols at home.
• Other planned activities include animal-themed arts and craft activities, and book giveaway.

“Our mission is to create an awareness of the fascinating diversity of life around us and to foster a sense of stewardship for every visitor, and beyond,” says Doug Hotle, Director of the Henson Robinson Zoo. Amanda Tippin, Assistant Director of Recreation and Marketing adds, “We are excited to join with our community partners as we celebrate this fun filled day for families at the Henson Robison Zoo.”
