The Springfield Area Arts Council invites the community to Shakespeare in the Park on Friday, July 24, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Enos Park, 1000 N. 7th Street. Now in its third year, the event will feature Lincoln and Shakespeare, a one-act play by Illinois playwright Kevin Purcell that examines how Shakespeare’s works may have influenced Abraham Lincoln’s writing, character, and leadership. Following the performance, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with the artists. Admission is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $25 to support future arts programming. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an unforgettable evening of theatre in one of Springfield’s historic parks.
